A TruFocus PA is the engine of every shoot day. You'll be on set helping the videographer and producer — setting up gear, managing media, supporting talent, and making sure nothing slips through the cracks.

This isn't a fetch-coffee role. From day one you'll be hands-on with cinema cameras, audio kits, lighting, and the workflows we've refined over a decade. The work is real, the responsibility is real, and the path forward — to videographer, producer, or editor — is real for the right person.

We're a small, tight team. You'll work directly with our producer (Vint), our lead editor (Jeff), and our founder (Chris). What you do matters, and we'll know whether it's working within the first month.

The Day-to-Day

What you'll do. Who we're looking for.

What you'll do

  • Set up cameras, lights, and audio gear before clients and talent arrive
  • Run cable, manage talent, and monitor takes during production
  • Back up and organize footage at the end of every shoot
  • Assist with pre-event walkthroughs and shot planning
  • Travel to client sites throughout Chicagoland and occasionally beyond
  • Help break down sets cleanly and account for every piece of gear
  • Communicate with clients, talent, and venue staff in a professional way

Who we're looking for

  • You show up early. Reliability is the single most important thing.
  • You're curious about the entire production stack — cameras, audio, lighting, story
  • You can lift 50 lbs and stand for full shoot days
  • Reliable transportation — we travel, sometimes early, sometimes late
  • Clear communicator with clients, talent, and crew
  • Comfortable with technology and quick to learn new gear
  • Bonus: prior camera, AV, editing, or live-event experience
What You Get

Real on-set time. Real mentorship. Real path forward.

On real shoots from week one

No filler work. You'll be on cinema-camera shoots — corporate brand films, conferences, nonprofit events — from your first scheduled call.

Mentorship that's actually mentorship

You'll work directly alongside a producer, lead editor, and a 12-year videographer. We teach by doing — and we tell you what we're thinking and why.

Range across industries

Aerospace, healthcare, financial services, nonprofit, regulated industries. You'll be exposed to a wider variety of work than most production shops can offer.

How We Operate

Four values we hire for.

Integrity

We do what we said we'd do — even when no one's watching the rough cut.

Courtesy

Clients, talent, and crew are treated with respect. Every set, every time.

Stewardship

We protect our clients' brands, budgets, and time as if they were our own.

Partnership

The best work comes from teams that operate as one. We hire for that.
