Daniel Dusing

Meet the Team Biography

When Dan Dusing first picked up a camera in the northern suburbs of Chicago, he was capturing multicultural weddings and helping local businesses tell their stories. Today, he's an awardwinning cinematographer, photographer, and multimedia editor at TruFocus Productions, bringing creative storytelling expertise to clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to family-owned restaurants. A graduate of the Illinois Institute of Art with a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Film & Video Production, Dan discovered his passion for filmmaking through his love of movies - from script writing to location scouting to filming, editing, and everything in between.

To Dan, every project is an opportunity to experiment with different angles, techniques, and equipment to tell stories in impactful and memorable ways. His approach goes beyond just "clicking record" - he thinks strategically about how visuals can implement each client's brand values and goals. This thoughtful methodology has earned him recognition, including a 2015-16 Silver Stevie International Award for Best Video for Non-Profit Fundraising, where his cinematography and editing helped raise $1 million in a single night at a gala event. Over the past six years, his donor-incentivized videos and photography content have consistently helped organizations raise over $100,000 annually in donations.

Dan's most career-defining project came when he partnered with Wilson Sporting Goods to create the official announcement video for Wilson becoming the official NBA ball again for the first time in 75 years. Working directly with Wilson's headquarters marketing team and CEO, Dan produced four different video deliverables that showcased the research, development, design, and production process. The virtual video summit he created was broadcast to over 100 global brand partners, helping generate partnerships worth over $10 million.

What sets Dan apart is his ability to remain organized with original footage and client-based media while staying present in the moment during shoots. He's adapted to the rapidly changing media landscape by embracing vertical video formats for social media optimization and adjusting his editing pace to match viewers' shorter attention spans. Rather than always shooting traditional widescreen and cropping later, Dan now offers video optimized for vertical formats right from capture, ensuring content is immediately ready for social media platforms.

At TruFocus Productions, Dan appreciates the collaborative environment that empowers team members through safe learning opportunities, equipment training, and post-project reviews. "It is TRUiy a pleasure to work with Chris and everyone at TruFocus," Dan explains. He leads by example with his positive attitude, creative problem-solving skills, and open-minded approach to finding innovative storytelling methods. His quick thinking and alternative solution-finding abilities make him invaluable when productions face unexpected challenges.
